Piano Tuning
• Standard Piano Tuning - $120
This service is for pianos that receive regular tuning, and have been tuned within the last 2 years. My standard piano tuning appointment involves fine tuning your piano to A440. This standard musical pitch is referred to as "concert pitch". Your piano was designed to be tuned to this pitch. If you're not familiar with musical terms you can click here for a great definition of concert pitch.
You're tuning will also include any small repairs that can be made within 10-15 minutes (i.e. sticking, non-functioning keys, notes sustaining on, minor pedal adjustments, etc.) There is no additional charge for small repairs that I can make at the tuning appointment. For pianos needing more extensive repairs or new parts, additional charges will apply.
• Pitch Raise Tuning - $150
If your piano has not been tuned in a while, and the pitch of the piano is either flat or sharp by 10% or more from A440, a pitch correction is required. This process involves pre-tensioning the strings to return the piano to proper pitch, and equalize the tension over the bridges preparing the piano to be fine tuned. This process involves additional time. For more information about pitch raising please visit this link on the Piano Technicians Guild website: http://www.ptg.org/resources-pianoOwners-pitchRaise.php

Piano Action Regulation
• Rate = $450 Grand Pianos / $300 Upright Pianos (Price may vary depending on amount of adjustment required)
Regulation is a term that is used to refer to the intricate adjustments to the action parts of a piano - the
mechanism between the keys and the strings that makes the piano work - to make it play and feel the way it
should. There are an average of over 9,000 parts in a piano, and pianos need to be regulated in order to keep them in good working condition. Over time, the wood, felt, and buckskin in the piano settles and compresses making the touch and response feel wrong. Often the piano will lose power or feel difficult to control when playing softly. Regulation re-adjusts these parts so the piano will perform optimally and evenly. Having your piano regulated can restore an even and easily controllable touch and playability.
Hammer Reconditioning / Voicing
• Rate for Hammer and Voicing work = $60 / hour
Over time as the hammers strike the string their tips become flattened and grooved where they make contact with the strings. This flat, compacted and grooved surface diminishes your piano's tonal quality as well as causes it to go out of tune faster and deteriorate the regulation in the action. The hammers should be reconditioned at least once ever 10-15 years for optimal sound.
Voicing the piano involves the manipulation of the hammer felt to obtain the optimum sound quality of the piano. Voicing is normally performed as a final step in reconditioning a piano and is done once all repairs and regulation work has been completed.

Key Top Repairs or Replacement
• Replacement key tops = $550 per set
Your pianos key tops are made of either ivory or plastic with a wood core. These tops can chip, warp and discolor over time and may need to be repaired or replaced. Missing, cracked or chipped ivory key tops can be repaired or replaced. Chips and cracks can be repaired using acrylics designed to match the original ivory. Please contact me for special pricing on this. Another option is to replace the whole set with new plastic tops. If you have plastic tops, they can simply be replaced with new tops of the same original color.
• Piano Vacuuming and Cleaning $40 and up
Piano Climate Control Systems
• Rate = $425 installed Upright Piano or Baby Grand Piano / Call for price on Grands and Concert Grands / Price includes climate control unit and installation.
Our Midwest dry winter weather and humid summer weather may cause great instability in the tuning of your piano and affect the felt and wooden parts inside your piano. A humidifier/dehumidifier system can help extend the life of your piano. Also, when installed and properly maintained, a piano climate control system will help your piano to hold it's tune longer and will help to preserve the sound board and bridges.
